Twitter Chatter

At a glance

Twitter Chatter is an innovative concept feature add-on designed to enhance the replies section of a tweet on the Twitter platform.

While Twitter is a hub for individuals to share their thoughts, it truly shines when it fosters engagement through retweets and replies, enabling conversations that span a multitude of topics and viewpoints.

JUMP TO SOLUTION

the problem

How might we...

streamline and improve the organization of Twitter's reply section during large discussions and debates, empowering individuals to effectively participate and have their voices heard?

our goal

Our goal is to...

create a more organized and accessible reply section on Twitter for large discussions and debates, enabling individuals to actively engage, contribute, and ensure their voices are prominently heard within these conversations on the platform.

solutions

We came up with three possible features...

More Control Over Discussions (Amplify Diverse Perspectives):
Empower users to have greater control over their discussions by providing tools for effective moderation, making it easier to ensure that different viewpoints are not only heard but also respected within the conversation.

Enhancing Twitter Blue (Expand Twitter Blue Subscription):
Integrate Twitter Chatter as a premium feature within Twitter Blue, our subscription service. This strategic move will not only enhance the value of Twitter Blue but also attract a broader audience, ultimately expanding the traction and adoption of our subscription offering.

A New Way to Interact (Boost Engagement): Introduce innovative interaction features that simplify the process of joining and participating in discourse. By creating a more user-friendly interface, we aim to increase engagement, encouraging users to become active contributors in meaningful discussions.

design process

How did we come to build Chatter?

In the initial stages of our design process for Twitter Chatter, we engaged in a dynamic brainstorming session to explore the key issues on the platform and devise innovative solutions. Our goal was to create a feature that would not only address these issues but also be feasible and practical to implement.

As a team, we drafted a design doc to help guide our solutions into the final design:

OBSTACLES

Facing roadblocks while designing

As a new designer, I had to work with understanding the current code and design system that Twitter was using, and design a new concept feature around that.

Adhering to the style guide gave me structure, and allowed me to maintain a cohesive and consistent user experience across the platform. It ensured that my new concept feature seamlessly integrated with the existing design, making it familiar and user-friendly for Twitter's existing user base.
